Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda failed to pick up maximum points against New Star FC of Douala at the Bamenda Municipal stadium this afternoon, in a day 19th encounter that ended goalless.

The visitors looked the more organized and threatened to break the deadlock inside the last five minutes of the game with several raids on the Yosa goal though without actually creating any real chance. Instead it was Udekwe Henry who unleashed a thunderbolt 28 metres out to forced Bokwe Georges to produce the save of the match with the only real opportunity of the entire encounter after he was setup by Metuge Frankline in the opposite end.

The rest of the match was a cagy affair between two side that looked rather resigned for a barren game. The result leaves Yosa dancing at the middle of the table on 25 points, while New Star of Djonkep Bonaventure still remains in the drop zone.

Elsewhere, Sable dealt a great blow to Les Astres of Douala’s title ambition with a 2-1 victory in Bafang. In what seems a providential day for the teams from the capital,  Tonnerre of Yaounde imposed a 4-0 win over Panthere of the Nde, while their cousins Canon  beat Renaissance of Ngoumou by 3-1. The Douala Athlectic Club suffered a surprise zero to one defeat at home to relegation threatened Fovu Club of Baham. And finally, Unisport of Bafang beat the Njalla Quand Sport Academy by a goal to zero in an advanced match played on Saturday.

The match Union against Coton sport of garoua will be played on Wednesday.
