UBa Issues Press Release On Recent Strike in Bamenda

 

The University of Bamenda, UBa has issued a press statement in relation to the recent strike action in Bamenda. This was after a meeting of that University on Wednesday November 23, at the university Auditorium, chaired by the VC, Prof. Theresia Nkuo, to appraise the prevailing strike action and its effect on functioning of the University of Bamenda.

It was observed and declared that there was no physical or verbal victimasation of Franchophone students or staff of the University of Bamenda by Anglophone students, that the UBa will does not and would not condone such actions, that the University has not been shoot down, that the absent of staff on campus is not an official stance of UBa, but rather a consequence of the strike action due to insecure environment.

The press release ends with some recommendations. It calls on the staff and students of UBa to distance themselves from all acts that may perturb the proper functioning of the university of Bamenda, calls on the state to take appropriate measures to beef up security to and from the university and its surrounding areas and that government should looked into the issues raised by the trade unions and provide timely solutions amongst others.
