Tubah SDF Reconciliation Angers CPDM Militants.

Some militants of the ruling Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement (CPDM) party have expressed their dissatisfaction following the reconciliation process in Tubah District between SDF party and councilors of Tubah Municipality. Some CPDM militants in Tubah had seen the rip in the SDF as an opportunity to pounce at in the next municipal and parliamentary elections in the country and had prayed endlessly for the in-house fighting to continue. These militants refused to go public but confided to us in a chat recently.

SDF party hierarchy and councilors had been at loggerhead ever since, the councilors elected Tanjong Martin as Mayor of Tubah, against the party’s investiture committee’s decision. The party immediately held a district conference where an interim executive was elected with Tabah Peeters replacing Tanjong Martin as District chairman. The councilors argued that, the action orchestrated by the provincial bureau of the party was a coup plot against their democratic right and for the past two years have refused paying party dues as recommended by the constitution of the SDF as a way to express their discontent with the party.

Thursday February 4th 2016, was a day most CPDM die hard militants in Tubah will wish it never existed as they saw what could have been their best chance of winning that council gradually slipped through their fingers when an enlarged District meeting of Tubah SDF was convened to find a solution to the crises. The Meeting brought together the Regional and Divisional executives, councilors of Tubah Council and militants of the party in Tubah and provided a forum for the militants of the party to pave a way forward. All the 35 councilors in Tubah were in attendance but for the Mayor Tanjong Martin who was said to be out of station.

Presiding over the conference, Hon. Njong Evaristus said it was time to prepare the District and get ready for the 2018 elections, Njong Maintained that Tubah SDF has no problem. He called on all councilors to give the support the party deserves in their various wards.

After listening to grievances from party militants and councilors, Hon. Njong reminded the councilors of what the party chair Ni John Fru Ndi said, when he recently received them at his residence. “If your dog bites you, you need to hit the dog hard to teach it a lesson, but the next day as the dog comes to up you with a waging tail as you return from work, wouldn’t you received the dog?” he quoted the party’s chairman

Other speakers at the conference were, Hon Fusi Namukong MP for Bafut-Tubah, who enumerated all assistance he has given out to Tubah, he equally shared cutlasses to all the ward chairpersons, vanguards and councilors who were in attendance. On his part the SDF Divisional Coordinator for Mezam Fuh Standley, used the event to hand New Year wishes to the regional boss of the party Hon. Njong Evaristus

The conference resolved that committees be form to go down to the various villages of Tubah and make sure the wards are reorganized before the final reorganization of the district. Militants also agreed to bury their differences and work for the good of the party in Tubah.

High profile CPDM militants in Tubah include Politbureau member-Regina Mundi and former minister Peter Abeti. The CPDM has constantly lost elections to the SDF in Tubah since the advent of multipartyism, and many of them had wished for the crisis to continue indefinetely.
