Governor Suspends Salaries of Recalcitrant Civil Servants

Lele Lafrique NW Governor

Northwest Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique has suspended the salaries of some 100 civil servants who are currently not rendering services in the restive North West Region.

The suspension of the salaries came following a Regional disciplinary board meeting that authorised the Governor to proceed with the sanctions. He will continue in the months ahead to suspend the salaries of more civil servants who have abandoned their duty post till all return to work.

Mr. Lele Lafrique made the announcement as he chaired the first Coordination and security meeting for 2020 in Bamenda on July 30th in Bamenda.

The Governor was indifferent to the plights facing these civil servants caused by the current crisis. He said the security forces are on the alert across the entire region.
“We know some of them are facing challenges and even the common man is facing challenges but the security forces are doing all their possible best to restore peace back in our trouble region. We ask all those facing difficulties to report them to the appropriate quarters rather than running away” The Governor explained.

The coordination and security meeting also featured papers on the management of national land and state properties in Mezam and the situation of the coronavirus pandemic in the NW region.
The Northwest currently counts over 650 positive cases. This made the Governor to call for barrier measures to be strictly respected.

Bamenda City Mayor

The Mayor to the Bamenda City Council, Paul Achobong in his opening speech, calls for a change in the mindset of the population for the prevailing chaos and disorder in the North West to come to an end. No one profits in the chaos and disorder he added.

The coordination and security meeting was aim at fostering solidarity and peace in the North West Region of Cameroon.
