Rev Besong Johnson Commisioned as New Presbytery Secretary for Mezam

The hearts  of the Christians of Mezam Presbytery and Ntamulung Parish were filled with joy as the Moderator of the PCC the Rt Rev. Dr Festus Asana wiped their tears with the commissioning of a new Presbyterian  Secretary for Mezam, the Rev Besong Johnson Tabe, to shepherd them after they painfully lost their former, the Rev Kenji Zephaniah.

The institution and induction service took place at PCC Ntamulung congregation, September 16 in the presence of over 50 pastors, a heavy delegation from Buea led by the Mayor of Buea Mbella Moki Charles, the Mayor of Bamenda II Council, Balick Awah Fidelis, the Representative of the North West Governor, Nji Joseph, other top civil, administrative and traditional authorities in and out of the Region, some Heads of Departments in the PCC among others.

In his sermon drawn fom 2 THESS 3: 6- 12 captioned, “do your work in quietness,” the Moderator reminded the over 3000  worshippers of their obligation to devote  their services to God adding that devotion produces excellent work for a good tree is known by its fruits.

Not only spiritual work but also genuine physical work to earn a living for according to him, he does not work must not eat quoting one old adage. Referring to the Rev Besong, the Moderator described him as a humble servant who does his work quietly without complaining. The PCC Church Leader concluded by calling on the faithfuls to work in faithfulness and quietness and they will experience the blessings of God.

Prior to the induction proper was the profile of the newly inducted presented by the Synod Clerk of the PCC the Rev Abwenzoh William. Born in 1959 the Rev Besong has obtained certificates from basic, secondary and higher institutions of learning and the last one being a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. He has served in different capacities in the PCC and has held various posts of responsibility.

It was a joyous ceremony as the CWF group of Ntamulung gave it a special touch as they led a significant dance with peace plants thus conveying messages of peace to  continue to reign in the Presbytery with the coming of the new Presbytery boss.

Speaking at the event, the Presbytery Chair of Mezam, Prof Gwanfogbe Mathew made a retrospect of the dark period that reigned when they lost their former spiritual leader. He therefore thanked God Almighty and the Staffing Committee of the PCC for wiping their tears with the appointment of the Rev Besong to shepherd them.

On his part the newly inducted pledged   his total effort to wrestle with the challenges that lie ahead of him but urged all to work as a team in order for them to plan and succeed together.

The Moderator lauded the efforts of Mezam Christians for their indefatigueable  services to God and their hospitality. The Rt Rev Dr Asana cautioned them not to rest on their laurels but to be faithful in their work because according to him, self acclaimed prophets in the name of Christ abound coming to fish Christians from the PCC.

It is worth noting that the Rev Besong Johnson was formerly serving as Presbyterial Secretary for Fako North and Parish Pastor of Buea Town before his appointment. He takes over from the Late Rev Kenji Zephaniah who was gruesomely murdered last year.
