RECAN-NW 2019 A Total Success

The event was highly attended

The 4th edition of the Northwest Arts and Culture Festival dubbed RECAN-NW, which rounded up last October 12 has been described as a “total success”, said Sadiou Moussa, the Economic and Social Adviser at the NW Governor’s office.

Despite the socio-political crisis in the region, he said Northwest artists braved the odds to massively participate in the five day event. He added this was a show of their desire to see peace return to the region and the country as a whole. He called on all to use our culture as a uniting factor for a peaceful and united Cameroon.

For five days artists from craftsmen, traditional waivers, painters, musicians, poets, spoken words artists, traditional dance groups amongst others exhibited their works and performances at the regional delegation of culture, Station Bamenda.

The event ended with a promise from the Regional Delegate of Arts and Culture NW to be back in 2020. RECAN NW is part of a national program by the ministry of Arts and Culture to re-launch and revive cultural activities nationwide. RECAN stands for Rentrée Culturelle Artistique Nationale.
