PCC Celebrates Global Week of Prayer and the Prison Ministry

Activities marking the weeklong celebration of the sixth global week of prayer for the prison and the prison ministry on the theme, “Stand in the Light,” took place at the Bamenda Central Prisons. Bringing the week to a close was the Presbyterial Secretary for Mezam, the Rev Talikong Amos Nfor called on the prison inmates to be hopeful and muster strength as they pass through this disciplinary phase as he assured them that God does not give up on sinners. He let the inmates know that every one living is a prisoner in one way or the other and so they should not fear to come close closer to God.

To the PCC groups that carried out evangelistic outreach during this weeklong celebration at the Bamenda Central Prison, the man of God urged them saying as Christians they should learn to accept one another and recognize the fact that God has a plan for everyone. The inmates on their part used this opportunity to plead with the Presbyterial Secretary to look into and also channel to the appropriate quarters their need of more medication, the desire of one of them to become an Evangelist of the PCC and also the need to go to a Bible school, as they promised to change as they also assured all that, the messages brought to them by the men of God throughout the week indeed fell on fertile soil.

The week had as major highlights, presentation of songs by the prison choir and lots of smiles radiating from the faces of the inmates, live testimonies how the Gospel has transformed their lives, baptism, readmission and Holy Communion. Also all the groups that visited the inmates brought a lot of material and financial assistance for their welfare.

It should be noted that, during this closing service the active presence of Father Joakim of the Roman Catholic Church, Evangelist Tewa Bernadette of the Cameroon Baptist Convention , the PCC Hospital Chaplain for Bamenda the Reverend Azia Samuel, and other PCC Pastors like the Rev Ajime Nelson, the Rev Fobang Geraldine and other Administrative Staff off the PCC was felt. The weeklong activities were organised by the Prison Chaplain in Bamenda, the Rev Fobang Christopher.
