NWD2:Rainbow and America-For-Africa setup final clash

Rainbow vs Bafut United (penalty kicks)

This year’s final of the Northwest regional Second Division Championship (NWD2) would be played between Amerirca-for-Africa  and Rainbow FC of Mankon. Both side booked their places this afternoon with wins against Rush FC Bali and Bafut United respectively.

Rainbow FC had to overcome Bafut United in post match penalty kicks after both side had laboured it out in a barren game that saw very few chances. Rainbow FC had earlier missed a penalty in extra time before converting all six kicks from the spot as against five for Bafut.

Rush FC Bali in the second game failed to live up to expectation, as they dashed the hopes of some 250 fans that travelled from Bali to galvanize them to victory. They lost by a goal to nil to their cousins America-for-Africa. The lone goal of the encounter came at the 70th minute of the game thanks to a lack of concentration by the defenders of Rush FC, after a dead ball just a few metres out of the vital zone was quickly taken by the swift attackers of America-for-Africa.

The final comes up next Sunday at the Bamenda Municipal stadium as from 3 pm. The winner of the single leg match would go on to represent the Northwest region in a tournament grouping representatives from the 9 other regions, to qualify into the national elite two championship.
