NW D2 To Be Launched On Dec. 30th

The NW Regional Second Division Championship 2020/2021 football season will be launched on December 30th, after the General Assembly of the NW Bureau of FECAFOOT met on December 23rd, clearing the last hurdle to the start of the sporting season in the region.

Ndi Tsembom Elvis, NW FECAFOOT scribe announced at the meeting that the league will play with 22 teams (including PWD Bamenda Reserves), to be divided into four pools. Two pools will consist of six teams and another two of five teams, with the two top teams of each pool advancing into the second phase or mini interpools.

After the gala match to launch the league, the league will go into a hiatus only to resume after the CHAN in the month of February. To catch up with the national calender, Ndi Tsembom said league matches will be played on weekends and mid weeks.

NW FECAFOOT President, Mbigha Felix adviced the clubs to use the FIFA January transfer window to register and obtain players licences. He promised to support the clubs with the sum of one million Fcfa, especially those that would be forced to play out of their bases due to the ongoing crisis in the NW region.

He also announced that his bureau is working with the authorities that be to reopen the Bamenda Municipal Stadium and also improve on other fields to host matches.

Other specialized leagues like Futsal, Youth and Female football leagues are expected to kick start this season as well with futsal pitches already prepared for that purpose.
