NW D2: Rush FC Bali and Rainbow FC kickoff 2nd round with victories
Rush FC Bali striving for a place in the sky
May 28. 2012
The Northwest Regional Second Division League (NW D2) entered day 8 of play over the weekend with the two front runners in pool A and B picking up valuable 3 points to consolidate their top spots.
Rainbow FC beat old-hand PWD of Bamenda by two goals to nil to take its tally to 17 points after 7 days of play in pool A of the competition. Their closest challenger, Bamenda FC drop precious points on the road to Kilum Mountain FC of Oku after a one all tie. That leaves the two teams at 13 and 11 points in the 2nd and 3rd positions in that order.
Milano Kumbo would hope things continue this way after the team recorded its first victory of the campaign in a 3:2 victory over Ngoketunjia FC to join them on 5 points at the bottom of the pool. PWD’s defefat means they would need to fight hard to make it to the mini inter-pool. On 6 points they are only one away from 4th placed Nkambe FC that still has a match in hand.
Rush FC Bali used the restart of the competition to distinguish it class as they put 5 points clear of America For Africa FC, Assoctcho FC and Bafut United on 16 points each at the 2nd position. Struggling at the bottom are Metro Security (8 pts), Dream Team (6 pts), Hilltop Strikers (5 pts) and Mankon United (2 pts).
Though it’s too early to call the shots, it would be an uphill task for the bottom placed teams to overcome the 8 plus point gap the top 4 have open above them. But with 18 more points for grap in the pool one just have to apply the wait and see policy.
