Nigeria: Flood – Cameroon, Nigeria to Build Structure by River Benue

Cameroonian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Salaheddene A. Ibrahim, has said Cameroon and Nigeria would construct a hydraulic structure on the tribulation of River Benue in order to regulate flow of water from it and to prevent flood disaster from affecting both countries during this year's raining season.

The ambassador disclosed this to Daily Trust during an interview saying both Nigeria minister of water resources and her counterpart in Cameroon would be meeting soon to channel measures of preventing flood from affecting the two countries.

"On the part of Cameroon we have put many measures in place to prevent flood disaster this year. We have constructed our own hydraulic structure but I cannot say if that has been done in Nigeria," the envoy said.

Ibrahim also said that experts on water resources from both countries also met in Cameroon where series of measures were adopted among which include, exchange of information on measures taken with regard to the issue, outlined solutions and draw up timetable for activities and field trips in each countries as well as failure of people living along the river to respect security corridor.
