MTN Elite One : YOSA entertains Union
Following its disappointing outing last weekend in Yaoundé against Renaisance of Ngoumou, Yosa welcomes current league leader Union of Douala this Sunday at the Bamenda Municipal stadium for a crucial day 19 encounter, a match that could decides the team’s goal for the season.
Another full house is expected when Aboubakar Moussa will sound his whistle for the start of hostilities at 3 pm on Sunday. Having dropped two places from second spot Yosa goes into the game with one consolation, that they have turned the Municipal stadium into a fortress winning six of the eight and losing none of their matches there since the start of the championship.
“We need to reduce the gap with Union” the team assistant coach Togui Jean Baptist said at the team’s training ground yesterday.
Union opened a six point lead over Yosa on day 18 with a 3:0 victory over Sable in Douala. The Nasaras as they are fondly called have picked up fine form since the start of the return phase of the league.Union counts 26 points five away from runners up Cotonsport and no matter the outcome of the trip to Bamenda, they are still assured of top spot still day 20.
For the other games of day 19, Canon welcomes struggling Njalla Quan of Limbe in Yaounde. All eyes and ears would be up north once more to see whether Scorpion could become general forfeiture after the plays failed to turn up for their match against local rivals Cotonsport on day 18 on grounds of accrued salaries.
If that is the outcome, then it would be a welcome relief for Rainassance that could pick up three points and plus three goals like Cotonsport to ease its relegation worries.
Tiko United continues it fight for survival with a trip to next door Douala in a Sawa derby and the first of two encounters programmed at the Reunification stadium. The second game afrom 4 pm would pit New Stars against Panthere of Nde. Struggling Aigle and Sable stay at home in Dschang and Mbouda to play host to Cotonsport and Unisport respectively.
