MTN Elite One: Panthere sets comfortable pace

The club from the Nde Division, Panthere of Bagante has made its intention to overthrow Cotonsport Garoua as champions of Cameroon very clear with the kick off of the return phase of the championship in Cameroon last week.

Panthere since the restart has amass a total of six points in two games walloping YOSA at home by 4-nil and then recording a 2:0 away  yesterday over struggling scorpion of Mbei in Garoua.

The result s means the team now places itself on top of the standing on 29 points, 2 above challenger, Union of Douala, and four above serial title contender Cotonsport of Garoua.

From all indications this run may continue for the next few days of play. Next  for Panthere is struggling Aigle of Dschang, followed by an away trip to Yaounde against  Canon, still battling for a place in the sky. And if victories in these matches could be followed by another at home to Astres on 18th day of play, Panthere may garner enough momentum to launch a sprint for the finish line.

Beside the championship is a short one, with only 10 more matches left to the end, a little consistency maybe all what it would take to make the difference.

If the last day of play proves anything, it is that the chasing packs of teams, Union, Cotonsport, Unisport, New Star and Yosa still have a hankering for the title. They all recorded victories over the weekend to continue to mount pressure on Panthere.

Here is the complete result of the 15th day of play and unofficial classification

YOSA 1 # 0 Tiko United

Scorpion 0 # 2 Panthere

Sable 0 # 0 Astres

Aigle 0 # 0 Unisport

Canon 1 # 3 New Star

Union 2 # 0 Njalla Quand
