Man Arrested With Human Parts In Mamfe

Elements of the forces of law and order in Mamfe recently arrested a certain Oscar Eyong Egbe, who is suspected to have butchered a seven-year-old primary school pupil to death.

According to reports, the seven-year-old was sent on an errand by his parents at about 4pm on the fateful day. After close to five hours without any sign of the child’s return; his parents became very worried and immediately reported the matter to the Divisional Officer, DO, for Mamfe Central, Ignatius Ekale, who in prompt reaction also alerted elements of the forces of law and order and his close aides.

Within hours, the DO and his team commenced investigations into the cause of the child’s disappearance. The DO and his team got to the residence of 21-year-old Eyong Egbe, the next day. Here, the child’s dresses were discovered and his dismembered body parts.

Some of the body parts of the victim were already smoked and package in a bag. To confirm whether the said parts were indeed that of the child, a doctor was brought in, in the presence of the victim’s father and some primary tests were conducted. The test results confirmed that the body parts were indeed that of the child. The State Counsel of Mamfe was then brought in for legal procedures, while Oscar Eyong was arrested and taken to the Mamfe Central Police Station.

Meantime, the Senior Divisional Officer for Manyu, Peter Tien Ndeh, has called for calm while investigation is ongoing. The incident occurred some three weeks after a similar act took place in Buea, where a man, in his mid 20s, Gabriel Mbonde, chopped off his own father’s head. Meanwhile, in Muyuka, a 32-year-old man, Franklin Kum, was arrested on March 30 for allegedly beheading the aunt.
