NW Governor Calls For Concerted Effort To Rebuild Region

Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique has called on all Northwesterners to come together to develop the region in line with the Head of State’s Development plan and in the spirit of the new decentralization process put in place by the state of Cameroon.

Mr. Lele Lafrique was reacting after the head of state, President Paul Biya addressed the nation on December 31, 2020 in his traditional end of year state of the nation’s address.

“After the municipal election, we have just rounded up with the regional elections that will implement the special status that is warrant after the major national dialogue to the NW region” he said adding that the elected body should now mobilize itself and “answer to the expectation of the grassroot population.”

He also announced that the state is carrying out a process to collect the data of victims of the crisis to start the reconstruction process.

He called on the population to collaborate with the security forces to combat the ghost town. “The population should mobilize and say enough is enough” he advised. He said the government will develop a plan of action to combat the ghost towns and those behind it will be brought to book.

President Paul Biya in his end of year address praised the collaboration between the population and the security forces and said peace is gradually returning to the NW and SW regions.
