ELECAM and CRCCD register Disabled in Bamenda

Hundreds of disabled persons in Bamenda have been registered into the electoral list during an exercise jointly organized by ELECAM and the Community Resource Centre for the Disabled and Disadvantaged (CRCCD) at the latter’s head office along the Commercial avenue Bamenda, Monday February 18, 2013.

“This is the best way we think we can get those considered as the disadvantaged in society have a say in the political process” Mrs. Limen Florence Director of CRCCD said.

“Since most of our members could not go to some of the places that Elecam is carrying out registration for one reason or the other, we decided to bring them here (CRCCD head office) which is accessible and known by all for this important civic exercise” she continued.

Elecam officials expressed satisfaction and called on other groups, “Njangi houses”, churches and organizations to emulate the example of CRCCD.

Registration into the biometric electoral list is due to end on February 28, 2013, unless the head of state extends the registration period.
