Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o, minister delegate at the presidency in charge of Defense has officially inaugurated the Bamenda Sports Fitness Trail Centre known as Parcour Vita and handed over to the Bamenda city Council at a ceremony this afternoon in Bamenda.

“The Bamenda City Council which is henceforth the property manager should take all necessary measures to ensure its maintenance and up keep…and for all users to participate in the preservation of this precious asset by conveniently using this facility  in a responsible manner with the spirit of patriotism and general interest” Minister Mebe Ngo’o called.

The Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council, Ndumu Nji Vincent, thanked the head of State for such a jewel to the population. “We can assure you that the Bamenda public and as well as that of the entire Northwest Region shall make maximum use of the Parcours Vita facility given the natural talent that abound here… and we look forward to even more high level sporting facilities especially for long distance training which is our specialty” he said

He also appealed to the Defense Ministry to assist the BCC is building of gutters on the 2.1 Km road leading to the facility to provide to enable it last long, provide assistance in running and maintaining the structure in the long run, assist the city through the military engineering corps to maintain roads and for more security personnel to be added at the facility.

The minister accompanied by his colleague of Social Affairs, Katherine Bakang Mbock, the Governor of the Northwest, the SDF national chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi, senators Achidi Achu and Fon teche Njei along side top administrative, military and invited officials took  a 25 minute guided tour of the facility in a 30 seater bus.

In 2012, the head of State ordered the Military Engineering corps known as Genie Militaire to Reconstruct and reconfigure facility that had been abandoned for many years, making it more secure, bigger and beautiful.

The Bamenda Parcour Vita, created in 1988 alongside the Yaoundé and Douala, covers 20 hectares and is covered by a 3300 metres wall, 2.3 km track with 19 obstacles; a children’s play ground, a restaurant and store, an administrative block equipped with health post, offices, multipurpose centre and toilet block, a centre gravel court yard with podium, internal and external parking of 2149 m2 , two pit toilets and two water stand pool and an access paved road of 2.1 km from Veterinary Junction to the Army Rescue Unit Junction.
