The current subsection president for the CPDM in Muwatsu-Mankon has declared his intention to run for the position of section president for the newly created Mezam 1B, Launching an open collision course with his former boss, Matoya Cletus Anye, and other challengers like Rose Sanigong

Mr Tikum speaking to a group of reporters at Mile VII Mankon, over the weekend said he is in the right man to lead the party in Mezam IB because he brings on board a team full of ideas to promote the growth of the CPDM and not like the others who comes with bags full of money.

“As an economic, marketing and management teacher-I believe I have the knowledge and ability to lead this section, to empower the youths and make them self sufficient by providing them with essential entrepreneurial skills and job opportunities” he said.”

“We want to eliminate the idea of Congress Hall party militants that has been the case for far too long now” he added, making reference to former party executives that have limited their party activities to meetings in the Bamenda Congress Hall.

Mr. Tikum said he was pushed to accept to run for the position by friends and party militants who are very pleased with the work he has carried out as Subsection president over the years. He also pointed out the lack of commitment, highhandedness and autocratic ways of the previous section executive.

He says he has plans to bring in experts to train the women of the party in the section on food preservation and transformation, the youth on job creation and job opportunities, to be gainfully employed in upcoming projects like the construction of the Bamenda Modern Stadium, Bamenda Airport renovation works and many others.

Responding to questions on whether if not accepted on the consensus list he will still run, Tikum Nicodemus said his party preaches unity and the CPDM does not want a situation wherein after elections the party is left divided, but hopes that the issue of consensus should be for the best candidates and interest of the party. He also said the Fon of Mankon, contrary to what people say does not have a preferred candidate, but looks at the program put forward by various candidates and usually throws his weight behind the consensus list.

Also running for the coveted position is the current Regional Delegate of Commerce for the Northwest, Matoya Cletus Anye, who enjoys a huge support base in Bamenda Urban, while Rose Sanigong has also declared her candidacy for the position. The Former Section President and Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council-Tazong Abel Nde is also said to be in the running, though yet to officially declare it.

Tikum Nicodemus started militating in the CPDM in 1986 while still a student. By 1990 he braved the coming of the SDF and remained steadfast to the CPDM and was considered as an outcast by many at that time. He has previously held the position of YCPDM vice president, Subsection President of Bamenda, and today is still the Subsection president of Muwatsu-Mankon.

As the elections looms over the horizon, Central Committee Delegate for the Northwest Region, Dr Dion Ngute has been visiting the various divisions to evaluate the level of activities ahead of the process. He has been to the Ngoketunjia, Bui and Donga Mantung. He will be in Menchum and Boyo tomorrow and will round up with Momo and Mexzam on Friday November 6, 2015.
