NW Public Health officials receiving consignment of covid-19 vaccines

After the Center and West Regions, the North West Region was the next to received its share of the Covid-19 vaccine on Wednesday April 14, 2021. On hand to officially receive the vaccine at the premises of the regional delegation of Public Health was the Secretary General at the Governor’s office Viang Mekala, in the presence of administrative and local officials.

In total, 11400 doses of the Covid-19 Vaccines were handed over to the NW regional delegate for Public Health, Dr Che Soh Kingsley. According to the delegate, this first batch of the vaccines targets aim of  health personnel who are in the frontline in the battle against the disease in the region.  This vaccines is expected to boast their moral in the fight against covid-19.

In addition to this, patients who are diabetics and hypertensive and  professional workers like teachers, security officers considered to be at high risk to catching the disease will also be inoculated.

After receiving the SINOPHARM consignment, Dr. Kingsley Che Soh urged all medical personnel to mobilize themselves to receive this Vaccines in order to be an example for others to follow and above all respect barrier measures. The first person to receive the vaccine was Viang Mekala, the Secretary General at the Governor’s office followed by the public health Delegate Dr. Che Soh Kingsley, The Director of the Regional Hospital, Dr. Denis Nsame plus other health personnel presents.

Dr Che Soh said they are targeting some 5000 people  in 23 selected health facilities in the coming weeks.  Over 4580 positive cases, 3774 recoveries, 633 active cases, 173 deaths have been reported in the NW region since the first case was reported in March 2020.

Amongst those who  conctacted  disease were 435 health personnel  among whom were  five deaths, and 41 infected pregnant women and 2 deaths.
