Cotonsport Handed Tough Champions League Group

Contonsport of Garoua

Cameroon’s 2016 vice champion and the country’s only remaining representative on the Continent, Contonsport of Garoua has been handed a tricky draw at this year’s expanded group phase of the CAF champions league, followig the draws that held in Cairo-Egypt yesterday.  Cotonsport inherited 8 times African champion and their nemesis in the competition, Al Ahly of Egypt, another Maghrebian side, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and Zanaco FC of Zambia in group D.

Holders Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa  have also been drawn in a tough group including 3 times winner Esperance of Tunis, Congolese side AS Vita Club, a former champion and debutants at this stage, Saint George of Ethiopia.

Group A brings together Sudan's two biggest domestic clubs, Al Hilal and Al Merreikh of Khartoum who are joined by Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia and Mozambique's Ferroviario Beira.

Group C pairs Zimbabwean debutants CAPS United aginst three North African teams in Zamalek of Egypt, Al Ahly of Tripoli-Libya and UMS of Algeria. The first group games will be played on the weekend of 12-14 May with the top two teams in each group progressing to the quarter-finals.
