Corpse of a day Old child discovered at a stream in Ntamulung-Bamenda

The corpse of the baby probably a day or two old was found already in an advanced state of decomposition at a brook that flows between Ntamulung and Sonac Street neigbourhood, behind the St Agnes Primary school on Tuesday.

Residents who found the body said they were attracted to it by the stench and flies that swarmed the area on an unusually hot afternoon in the city this day.

The police are yet to officially open an investigation. Residents say the child must have been dumped there three to 6 nights ago but are clueless as to who might have committed such a heinous act.

The police and army rescue units failed to respond to numerous calls to come to the scene. By the time we left the scene, they residents planned to inform the quarter head before the corpse is recovered and properly buried.
