B’da City Council To Improve On Agricultural Output

NW Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique use the opportunity to call for return of peace in the region

The Bamenda City Mayor Paul Achombong has promised to improve the agricultural output within Bamenda. He announced the move during a ceremony organized to look at the challenges of 2020 and offer his vision for the new year 2021

Mr. Achombong said a majority of our food stuff is brought in from the West region and this is due to the observance of ghost towns. This blind respect of the ghost town has nevetively affected our food production. He added that the ongoing crisis has stopped many from engaging in farming while others have fled the region.

As a prelude to solving this, the City mayor announced that he will open a tomato processing plant to transform tomato grown by the City Council into tomato paste and the opening of a mega poultry farm with over a 100 000 birds to stop the importation of table birds into the region. These economic activities will create more employment for the youths of the region.

The City Mayor went further to assure the population that the state of bad roads in Bamenda will be ameliorated in 2021.

Northwest  governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique saluted the efforts of the City Mayor and lend his total support to his relentless effort to fight against the crippling ghost towns. He said the rebuilding process of the region under the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction of the North West and South West regions will fully set in this year 2021. He encouraged the people to continue to respect preventive measures prescribed by government in the fight against Covid-19 and to shun with all their energy the anti development ghost towns.

The come together was intended to enhance the relationship between the Bamenda city council and the population. The city council carried out an auction sales of tomatoes fruits, and also shared in a common meal with all present.
