The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice In charge of Penitentiary Administration, Doh Jerome has offer assistance to primary school pupils of Bali Nyonga Subdivision worth over four million. The aid in the form of books was offered to the pupils of the 30 government, mission and lay private schools in Bali on Monday August 12, at a ceremony at the Bali Town Hall.

Doh Jerome said the gesture “was just to bring education to every family notwithstanding their level of income, is my own small way to partner with government and to partner with other stake holders and elites who has been showing good will towards that direction”

“This is to take education to every home… I wasn’t in any pretention to think that I will cover the needs of the people, it was just my own token gesture in the line of what the parents’ should now do or other stake holders, to make sure that we give the opportunity to every child of this subdivision to reach his dream”  he iterated.

Camara Divine Camara D.O for Bali welcomed the gesture as timely and urged parents and pupils to put the gift into adequate use. He called on other sons and daughters of Bali Nyonga to emulate his example.

Foncham Paul Babila, inspector of Basic Education Bali warned head teachers and parents not to misuse the books and that he would personally pass round the schools to check. He said many pupils don’t perform well in school because of the lack of basic needs like books.

Mrs. Regina Fomunung, Deputy Mayor Bali speaking earlier described the gesture as rare and genuine show of love to the younger generation and leaders of tomorrow.

The assistance worth over 4 million FCFA include 22 650 exercise books of 20, 40, 60 and 80 leaves both plain and square distributed to 19 government primary schools, 4 mission, and 7 lay private schools distributed following the population of the various schools. Government Bilingual primary school Bali received the most, 2272 exercise books.

Mr. Doh Jerome announced that more assistance to Bali youths is on its way, with the mayor of Bali to award ten, 100 000 FCFA scholarship to university students in the days ahead. Last year the Secretary of state offered 10 000 Frs. each to the best three pupils of primary schools in Bali.  The recent assistance was a fulfillment of a promise made to the people of Bali during Senator, Fon Doh Ganyonga’s home coming on July 27, 2013.
