Police killed notorious arm bandit in shoot-out

Elements of the judicial have shot and killed one Che Frankline (24) suspected to be member of an armed gang that recently attacked and robbed the Total Petrol Station at Nkwen Bamenda, during a raid at his residence behind Bali Park neighbourhood on Thursday August 8.

According to Som Mbende, Commissioner of the Judicial Police Bamenda, they have been on the heels of the gang members for a long time, following the shooting to death of a watchman at Mbengwi Cooperative credit Union after an operation in April.

Som Mbende said the gang carryout several similar operations in several parts of town, robbing the residence of the director of Premiere Security where they took away an automatic riffle used in other operations.

Last weekend raid at Total Nkwen where the gang held several persons hostage at gun point forcing them to lie on the faces, shot and wounded an attendant at the Petrol station, and robbed many of their money in nearby drinking spots seemed to have tip the scale in favour of the police.

One Fokum was picked up days after and aided the police to track other gang members. with the help of an informant, the police zoomed in on Che Frankline, at his Ntatru neighbourhood, behind Bali Park. A shoot-out resulted and he was shot on the head and died seconds later.

The police have appealed to quarter heads and the general public to collaborate with forces of law and order to track down such criminals.
