Fon Forchesirri III Is the New Fon Of Bamendakwe

Amah George Forsuh now Fon Forchesirri III is the new Fon of Bamendakwe, he succeeds Fon Forsuh Nforngwa III.

Fon Forchesirri III was officially unveiled to the public Wednesday September 2, 2020 at a colourful ceremony that held at the palace esplanade, attended by thousands mostly dressed in traditional outfit.

First the was the officially mourning of the missing Fon by the women and children of Bamendakwe. Many came dressed in typical grass field pre-independent outfits. The elderly women mostly had their upper body exposed with with only their breast wear on, with dry or fresh plantain or banana leaves covering over their waist, most on top of a short loincloth or pair of shorts. The men on their part put on long trousers and bare body, some with special traditional necklace made from some special plants.

The younger generation had a slightly different touch to their outfit. The boys, just like the men came bare body with a pair of shorts while the girls had headscarf material firmly tied around their upper body covering their breast. Some of the women preferred to keep only their bra. To blend in, most used plantain leaves over their skirt or trousers, in a modern attempt to mimic pre-colonial Bamendakwe.

The wives of the missing Fon mostly exposed their entire body with only a loincloth covering over their lower body and sat down during the official mourning.

There was general wailing throughout the process till the Fon was sureptiously brought into the palace from where the kingmakers had been holding him. He was later presented to the public dressed only with a typical grass field attire, bare body, a “sangha” specially made from a stallon tail, a waiver bag with cowries embroidery, a special grass necklace and a traditional cap.

Mezam SDO Moh Émile congratulated the new Fon and challenged him to bring peace to his people, assist the adminstration and help unite all in such difficult times.
