Fundong Embraces Normal Life as Military Cleans Up Boyo

Hundreds of local residents came out to listen to the generals

For the first time since the eruption of hostilities between seperatist fighters and the military in the NW Region, hundred of local residents turn up at the Fundong Motor Park on Sunday August 30, 2020 to listen to the Commanders of the 5th Military Region and the SDO following a military clean up operation in Boyo.

They 1st deputy Mayor of Fundong Chia Ernest and some of the business operators at the Fundong Market expressed their wish to see the town and the entire division regain it’s once bustling life.

Many shops, offices and road side vendors in Fundong have been carrying out their daily activities but for some Mondays. Their joy to rush in their numbers to the Market Square this Sunday was to listened to the military commanders address them after a six day military operation that covered the entire Boyo division.

Operation “Boyo I”

Code name “Boyo I” the operation that involved some 450 men was targeted at clearing and dismantling seperatist camps and their hideouts. Seven suspected seperatist fighters were taken in, 17 Neutralized, several locally fabricated fire arms seized, three fabricating units destroyed, uniforms, sewing machines, engine saw, Ambazonia fighters epulets, weldering machine, motocycles, a register containing the names of all Amba operatives amongst others were seized.

Col. Matiang Charles Alain who commanded the operation said they also found the personal identification documents of “general A.K”

And that this has provided them with ample information that would help track him down. He also requested for a second operation and if possible a 3rd to completely clear out all remaining pockets of resistance.

What did the generals say?

Brigadier Generals Nka Valere (5th Joint Military Region) and Ekongwese Divine (5th Gendarmarie region) told the population of Fundong and Boyo in general that the Cameroon military has a duty to liberate them from bondage and bring back life to normal. They called on the population to corporate with the military to help them achieve this goal.

Both men also advised those who are still in the bushes to drop their arms and come back to the normal life, warning if they don’t, they will be taken care of by the determined defence and security forces.

Gen. Nka applauded the efforts of his men who successfully captured alive seven supposed seperatists. “These men could have been easily killed but we did not do that because we are not interested in killing but preserving life” concerning the captured men he said the gendarmes will complete their investigations and the court s will determine their fate.

Both men and the SDO for Boyo, Tengnie Fidel assured the people of Fundong that the government and the military would stand by their side if they are ready to weed out the hoodlums, kidnappers and bandits. They encouraged the population to denounce the fighters to go about with their daily activities without fear and more will be given to them.

General Nka handed over the sum of 200,000 frs to the market master Fundong Market. He said they money should be used to buy soap and other items to to help protect the population against the covid-19 pandemic.

Operation Boyo I comes after similar and successful operations in Bafut, Bali, Widikum, Pinyin, Awing, Ndop, Kumbo and Wum, Bambalang and many other localities.
