Renewed Hope For Abandoned “Amba General’s” Children

Two girls, 17 and six years found abandoned by their parent in Bafut last June during a military raid have been reintegrated into the society and provided with means to cope with their daily challenges.

The girls, daughters of a high ranking seperatist fighter Ngwa Saidou Njiya AKA “general Alahji” received psycho social support at an unsiclosed location for three months before being reintegrated into normal life.

Madam Nkwate Rebecca, North West Regional Delegate of social Affairs said when the plight of these children were brought to her attention, her office had the arduous task to get them appropriate accommodation due to the lack of an accommodation centre for such destress cases. She however added that a solution was found with the help of the commander of the 5th Joint Military Region, Gen. Nka Valere.

The elder of the two sisters said they had been well taken care of and are very happy with all the arrangements that were put in place to make them comfortable. She said she will continue in pursuit of her life long goal, of becoming a hairdresser as she goes back to Douala.

Before reintegrating the children into society after their traumatic experience, some basic items like bathings, clothes, food and allowances were handed to them on Sunday August 23, 2020. Gen. Nka Valere also handed over hair dressing equipments to the elder sister to assist her complete her trade in hair dressing. The younger sister also received a financial package to cover her school needs as she prepares for primary 2 next academic year.

The General at the end launched an appealed to the general public to join forces with the security forces to bring back peace to the NW region and Cameroon as a whole.

Defense and security forces carried out two operations in Bafut in May and June where the Saddle Hill Ranch used as a command centre by the seperatist was recaptured.
