Gideon Ajeagah Shortlisted for the GPLA 2017

 

Cameroonian English-speaking author, Professor Gideon Ajeagah, has his work shortlisted for the GPLA (Grand Prix of Literary Associations) 2017 finals. The book was proposed to the Jury by ORES (Organisation of Rural Education Simplicity), an association based in Bamenda. He is the second Cameroonian anglophone author to get to this stage of the famous contest, after the latest winner of the Tam-tam Short Story Prize, J. Shenga, who was shortlisted in 2014 in the Belles-lettres category.

Gideon Ajeagah’s work, "Water as a weapon of international confrontations", is challenging two other books in the Research category : "NATIVE : dispatches from a  Palestinian-Israeli Life", by Sayed Kashua, an author from Israel, and "HispanoAmérica :visión contemporánea", an essay written in spanish language by two Cameroonian authors, Ebenzer Bille and Georges Moukouti.

The Belles-lettres category is made of six finalists :

1-"The Explosion Chronicles", by Yan Lianke (China)

2- "Fendre l’armure", by Anna Gavalda (France)

3- "Le tchighida du père Arthaud", by Kadjangabalo sekou (Togo)

4- ""Bajo el sol", by Guadalupe Martínez Galindo (Mexico)

5- " La Geste de Bréké », by Macaire Etty" (Côte d’Ivoire)

6- "Los héroes del camino", by Vicento Delgado Carreto (Mexico)

The final results of the GPLA 2017 are expected on March 26
