SDF Chairman, John Fru Ndi is castigating the ruling CPDM party for turning this year’s National Youth Day into a political campaign.

Fru Ndi was speaking February 3, during the launch of activities marking the day in Bafut by Youth Affairs minister, Ismael Bidoung Mkpatt.

“Youth activities should be apolitical…they have ferried politicians in the CPDM uniform from the North West to come and stand here. I expected to see school children who are competing in all aspects because when we say youth week, we lay more focus and emphasis on the students, primary and secondary schools. But when I find the CPDM parading and taking front space and pushing the students aside, it hurts me.” Ndi lamented.

To Fru Ndi, a cross-section of the population at the Bafut launching was CPDM militants clad in their party uniforms. On this note, Fru Ndi advised that people should try to distinguish partisan politics from youth activities and let the youths grow with a serene mind and at a later stage, decide for themselves which party to belong to.

Ndi used the occasion to congratulate the youths and wish them well on the 11th of February, “I expect the youths to grow and be men and women of honour and dignity with responsible values.”

He dissociated himself from youths who are scammers, asserting that most Cameroonian youths have gotten involved in the illegal act of wanting to make fast cash through the internet and other means. He called on them to be very vigilant, more especially during this moment the country is hard hit with Boko Haram phenomenon: “I call on the youths to report suspicious moves to the authorities that be,” he advised.

While hoping that peace and stability be restored in the country following the attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in the Far North region, Fru Ndi doffed his hat for the Cameroonian army at the war front.

He invited other Cameroonians to join and support the soldiers either by contributing food stuff or by any other possible means. He pledged his readiness to join the trail. Hear him: “I am ready to send corn and if possible smoked beef.”
